The Yellowknife Skating Club (YKSC) is a Skate Canada Sanctioned Club. The YKSC is celebrating 39 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Yellowknife. The Club was founded on December 11th, 1968, known then as Yellowknife Figure Skating Club. The word "Figure" has been dropped to reflect the changing attitudes that 'skating is a sport that can be enjoyed by all; no matter their age, gender, fitness level or personal interest.' The first Board of Directors included such long time Yellowknifers' as Mickey Brown and Ruth Spence.

Help us continue this great tradition!

The Yellowknife Skating Club is a nonprofit organization, sanctioned by Skate Canada and dedicated to the sport of skating. We endeavour to provide the best program possible to your skater delivered by dedicated professional coaches with the assistance of Program Assistants & volunteers.

Our Board of Director’s volunteer many hours to improve and support the Club. Volunteer assistance from the membership for the operation of the club is essential. Please help by supporting our Club activities. Board meetings are open to all our members. They are held monthly in the Multi-purpose room. Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held every fall. If you would like to become a member of the YKSC Board, the AGM is the place to be. Please watch the Bulletin Board & Newsletters for meeting dates, times and places.

Our skating season runs from September through to April. YKSC is pleased to offer the following programs: KidCanSkate and CanSkate; Adult/Late Starters; Special Olympics; Test Stream STARSkate & Competitive programs.
